HIFU stands for ‘High Intensity Focused Ultrasound’. It is a technology by which sound waves are focused on the treatment area to help stimulate collagen and elastin generation in the deeper layers of the skin and mucosa without affecting the outer layers in any manner.
HIFU vaginal rejuvenation uses a specialized HIFU probe designed to be safely used inside the vagina to stimulate the collagen in mucosal lamina and muscles so as to reverse any damage caused by ageing or lifestyle habits or medical conditions.
The full effects of HIFU Vaginal Rejuvenation may take upto 3 months to show. The expected outcome is an increase in the tightness of the vaginal cavity along with reduction in dryness. Some patients may need multiple treatments spaced 6 months apart, but the results are incremental and the patient benefits from every session.

– On your first visit a gynaecological examination is done to determine the suitability of a vaginal rejuvenation treatment.
– In addition a laboratory test (PAP Smear) will be ordered to ensure further safety of the patient and assess suitability for the procedure.
– Once you are cleared for the procedure, the second session is schedule.
– After an Initial examination, a speculum is inserted into the vaginal canal.
– The speciality HIFU Probe is then insterted into the vaginal cavity and energy shots are given at short intervals through the depth of the vaginal cavity.
– the area is cleaned and the procedure is deemed complete.
Pre Procedure Care:
Patients need to have pap smear done first before the treatment. Pap smear results must be normal, urine culture negative, and the vaginal canal free of injuries and bleeding. This should be done preferably 1 week after menstruation. Before the HIFU treatment, the patient’s vagina must be cleansed thoroughly at home. The patient is requested to abstain from penetrative intercourse for a period of 72 hours before the procedure.
After Procedure Care:
No special post-treatment instructions are needed. Patients are only advised to avoid sexual activities for a period of 72 hours after each of the treatment sessions. In case any discomfort persists after this period then the patient is advised to consult Dr. Sejal again.

Indicative Prices
HIFU vaginal rejuvenation is largely a comfortable procedure. Only a mild pricking sensation is felt during the treatment with probe. Most people can easily handle this level of discomfort.
The results of this procedure are prone to reduce with time as the body ages further. But rest assured the results are long lasting and with a maintenance treatment once a year the results can be sustained for a long time.
Most patients see advantage from the first procedure onwards. However in some cases upto 4 sessions may be needed spaced 1 month apart. After which one session once a year is adequate.
There is practically no down time and the patient can return back to routine activities immediately after the procedure.
