Laser vaginal rejuvenation utilizes a fractional CO2 laser to enhance vaginal health, addressing issues like:
– Stretched or enlargement or expansion of the vagina
– Vaginal Dryness
– Urinary Incontinence
– Pain During Intercourse
– Vaginal Skin Thinning
These conditions are largely caused because of reasons like childbirth, obesity, hysterectomy and ageing. In addition such conditions may have been accelerated by lifestyle choices like smoking etc.
This non-surgical procedure improves moisture, lubrication, and elasticity, while also increasing the wall thickness and recovering lost volume in the vaginal canal.
CO2 lasers produce light at a 10,600 nm wavelength, which is absorbed by water in the tissue. The laser energy heats up the water until it reaches a boiling point causing the evaporation of the affected tissue.
In case of fractional laser, the laser beam is passed through a pattern scanner which allows for even more precise control of the laser and the ability to create a grid pattern of energy delivery in the treatment area.
Hence only miniature, controlled wounding of the vaginal mucosa occurs with the intermittent area being left unaffected. This leads to two basic effects:
1. It activates the collagen and elastin formation process. Collagen and Elastin are the basic proteins which hold the skin cells together and are instrumental in the form the skin takes.
2. This process also leads to neo-vascularization, that is formation of new blood vessels, leading to a much better blood flow and hence healthier mucosa
Because of the above two effects when the vaginal mucosa heals, there is a substantial improvement in the thickness and fullness of the vaginal walls and also there is a reduction in the laxity of the vaginal canal. Also the mucosa become healthier and is better lubricated.
– On your first visit a gynaecological examination is done to determine the suitability of a vaginal rejuvenation treatment.
– In addition a laboratory test (PAP Smear) will be ordered to ensure further safety of the patient and assess suitability for the procedure.
– Once you are cleared for the procedure, the second session is scheduled.
– After an Initial examination, a speculum is inserted into the vaginal canal.
– The speciality CO2 laser Probe is then inserted into the vaginal cavity and energy shots are given at short intervals through the depth of the vaginal cavity.
-This is a followed by treatment of the exterior of the vaginal canal.
– The area is cleaned and the procedure is deemed complete.
Pre procedure Instructions:
Patients need to have pap smear done first before the treatment. Pap smear results must be normal, urine culture negative, and the vaginal canal free of injuries and bleeding. This should be done preferably 1 week after menstruation. Before the HIFU treatment, the patient’s vagina must be cleansed thoroughly at home. The patient is requested to abstain from penetrative intercourse for a period of 72 hours before the procedure.
Aftercare Instructions:
No special post-treatment instructions are needed. Patients are only advised to avoid sexual activities for a period of 72 hours after each of the treatment sessions. In case any discomfort persists after this period then the patient is advised to consult Dr. Sejal again.

Indicative Prices
Laser vaginal rejuvenation is largely a comfortable procedure. Only a mild pricking sensation is felt during the treatment with probe. Most people can easily handle this level of discomfort.
The results of this procedure are prone to reduce with time as the body ages further. But rest assured the results are long lasting and with a maintenance treatment once a year the results can be sustained for a long time.
Most patients see advantage from the first procedure onwards. However in some cases upto 4 sessions may be needed spaced 1 month apart. After which one session per year is advised as maintenance.
There is practically no down time and the patient can return back to routine activities immediately after the procedure.
One may experience a mild discomfort for the next 48 to 72 hours, but the same subsides automatically.
