Soft, Supple & Hydrated Skin with

Iontophoresis @ InUrSkn

What is
Ionization?

Iontophoresis Therapy (often referred to as ionization) is a procedure which involves delivery of medication, serum or peel into the deeper layers of skin by means of stimulating the skin with low intensity galvanic current.

Based on the exact need of the patient a correct serum or medication can be used to achieve the below results:
1. Improve Deep Hydration
2. Reduce Pigmentation & Oxidative Stress
3. Reduce Excessive Sweating
4. Reduce the Size of Pores etc.

Who is Iontophoresis
suitable for?

If you are concerned about the texture of your skin or its elasticity and have any of the below conditions, Iontophoresis may be suitable for you.

If you are concerned about signs of ageing showing on your face and have any of the below conditions, Iontophoresis may be suitable for you.

Iontophoresis is also used to treat patients with a problem of excssive sweating from their palms, armpits etc.

The most common reasons why patients seek full body skin rejuvenation are:

1. Chronic Generalized (wide spread) dry and dull skin

2. Generalized spread of marks and spots on large parts of the body like back etc. because of acne and other conditions.

3. Generalized darkening of skin or tanning because of sun exposure

4. Need for improving the overall texture and elasticity of the skin.

Working Principle Of
Ionization

The procedure of ionization involves applying a low intensity current to the target area where penetration of any particular serum or medication is required. The application of this current helps open up the pores and allows the applied topical medication or serum to penetrate deeper into the skin. This deeper penetration means a higher uptake of the targeted medication and serum and hence a much better outcome.

Know More About
Iontophoresis

After an analysis the doctor recommends the medication or serum to be applied. The same is applied after due cleaning of the skin. This is followed by a stimulation of the skin with an iontophoresis machine. The procedure is absolutely safe and has no down time.

Ionization is mainly a procedure where the objective is to help penetration of the serum or medication and hence it is the medication that actually works. However when used with hydrating serums there is a near instant feeling of the skin becoming more supple and soft. It is best to understand that an ionization session is more advantageous in the long run when combined with other skin rejuvenation procedures.

Probably the best thing about this procedure is that there is virtually no down time. However similar to any skin procedure, it is advisable to take a few precautions like:

1. Avoid direct sun exposure for 2 days.
2. Wear a broad spectrum sunscreen.
3. Use a moisturiser.
4. Use a mild face wash.
5. Do not scrub or rub your skin.
6. Do not apply makeup for 24 hours.
7. Do not wax, thread or bleach for 7 to 10 days
8. Do not undergo any salon or spa procedure for upto 72 hours.

I also recommend that my patients undergo an skin polishing treatment before an ionization procedure.
The mechanical exfoliation of the dead skin cells by skin polishing help in better penetration of the targeted serum or medication. This helps in achieving better results in terms of younger, more supple skin.

Oxygen Facial

An Oxygen facial (also called CO2 facial) works towards improving the metabolism of skin cells and increasing the collagen levels in your skin by a phenomenon called Bohr’s effect. This is the phenomenon in which by generating CO2 on the outer layer of skin, there is an increase in the O2 levels in the deeper layers of the skin. The increase in oxygen improves cell growth and cell biosynthesis leading to a better, younger looking skin.

An iontophoresis treatment session typically lasts between 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the area being treated.

No, iontophoresis is a painless procedure. You may feel a mild tingling sensation during the treatment, but it should not be uncomfortable.
