Laser Skin Rejuvenation @ InUrSkn

What is
Laser Skin Rejuvenation?

Laser Skin Rejuvenation uses the ability of laser to target and treat blemishes in the skin that are caused by environmental factors and lifestyle choices. At InUrSkn we use Nd Yag Lasers to treat a variety of conditions ranging from simple overall tanning to concentrated pigmentation marks and birthmarks.

Different Types of Lasers are used to help with specific concerns. As an example for gentle overall skin rejuvenation we recommend a treatment with Q Switched Nd Yag Lasers while for deep and intense pigmentation we recommend using a PIcoSecond Nd Yag Laser.

Who is Laser Skin Rejuvenation
suitable for?

If you are concerned about the texture of your skin or its elasticity and have any of the below conditions, LSR may be suitable for you.

If you are concerned about signs of ageing showing on your face and have any of the below conditions, LSR may be suitable for you.

Patients with active acne or acne scars also benefit from laser skin rejuvenation, as the procedure targets the melanin in the darker areas of the skin and destroys the same. It also works towards improving skin cell metabolism and can help with mild reduction in acne scars.

The most common reasons why patients seek full body skin rejuvenation are:

  1. Chronic Generalized (wide spread) dry and dull skin
  2. Generalized spread of marks and spots on large parts of the body like back etc. because of acne and other conditions.
  3. Generalized darkening of skin or tanning because of sun exposure
  4. Need for improving the overall texture and elasticity of the skin.
How is my skin affected by
Laser?

An Nd Yag laser emits a beam of light of a particular wavelength (1064 nm). This wavelength has been established to work on the skin by primarily two mechanisms.

  1. On exposure of the skin to ND Yag laser there is a reduction in the melanin in the skin. This allows for a reduction in blemishes and patchiness and yields an even toned skin.
  2. The laser beam exposure also causes the deeper layers of the skin to be stimulated so as to help with collagen and elastin formation. Which causes the skin to become firmer and supple. This also leads to reduction in fine lines, wrinkles and pore size.

Please note that there are various names for this procedure such as photofacial, laser skin toning, laser skin whitening etc. the fundamental principle for all of these treatments is exactly the same.

Know More About
Laser Skin Rejuvenation

The following steps are typically followed in a photofacial or laser skin rejuvenation:

  1. The skin is cleaned with a mild cleanser.
  2. Dr. Sejal identifies the exact intensity, spot size and frequency for the machine based on your skin type and condition.
  3. The aesthetician then makes multiple passes of the laser over the area to be treated.
  4. If required then Dr. Sejal may advise that the laser be used at higher intensity on certain areas of the skin with marks and blemishes.
  5. The skin is cleansed again. A soothing hydrating mask is applied.
  6. Lastly a moisturizer and sunscreen is applied.

Probably the best thing about this procedure is that there is virtually no down time. However similar to any skin procedure, it is advisable to take a few precautions like:

Avoid direct sun exposure for 2 days.
Wear a broad spectrum sunscreen.
Use a moisturiser.
Use a mild face wash.

Do not scrub or rub your skin.
Do not apply makeup for 24 hours.
Do not wax, thread or bleach for 7 to 10 days
Do not undergo any salon or spa procedure for upto 72 hours.

Results can be expected at limited levels from the first session onwards. The skin tends to become more evenly toned with reduction in intensity of marks and blemishes. Also the skin feels mildly taught and supple.

To see an absolutely visible result, Dr. Sejal recommends undergoing at least 4 treatments spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart along with a proper at home skin care routine.

Frequently Asked Questions

As the laser energy can be very precisely controlled, this is one of the safest skin rejuvenation techniques around. There are practically no adverse reactions experienced by patients. In rare cases there is a slight redness and mild tenderness that can be experienced, but the same settles on its own in 2 to 3 hours time.

All types of laser skin treatments are additive in nature, which means that as one keeps undergoing the procedure along with application of topical medications and serums at home, the more improvement in the condition of the skin becomes visible. However it is important to understand that exposure to environment and bad lifestyle choices can hamper the recovery of your skin and reverse the positive effects of any skin rejuvenation procedure.

This is an absolute myth. There is no degradation in the condition of your skin in case one stops any skin rejuvenation treatment.

Dr. Sejal recommends that initially a series of 4 treatments can be planned about 3 to 4 weeks apart. After which one can plan on a carbon laser peel once in 3 to 6 months as maintenance.

There is no down time associated with this procedure You can return to work and regular activities immediately after the procedure. However it is recommended to not have direct sun exposure and any other beauty treatments for upto 48 hours.

Laser Skin toning is one of the safest procedures for skin rejuvenation. However it is advisable that gestating women and patients with history of chronic skin disorders like psoriasis or vitiligo should avoid this. Also patients with any form of lesions or wounds to the skin should avoid such procedures.

A session can take upto 30 minutes from start to end for treating the face.

Laser skin rejuvenation is typically not painful, but some patients may experience a slight discomfort or tingling sensation during the treatment. Most patients find the procedure to be very tolerable.

The potential side effects of laser skin rejuvenation are typically mild and temporary, and may include redness, swelling, and mild tenderness. In rare cases, more serious side effects such as blistering or scarring may occur, but these are very uncommon when the procedure is performed by a skilled professional.

There is typically no downtime after laser skin rejuvenation, and patients can resume their normal activities immediately after the treatment. However, some patients may experience slight redness or swelling that usually resolves within a few hours.

Yes, it is important to avoid direct sun exposure for a period of time before the procedure, and to avoid using any topical medications that may irritate the skin. Your dermatologist provider will provide you with specific instructions based on your individual needs.

Yes, laser skin rejuvenation can be combined with other cosmetic treatments such as chemical peels, hydrafacial etc. for getting an optimum result. Also your treating dermatologist may recommend at home skin care reimen with aid of topical and oral medications which will also enhance the results of your procedure.
