Bearing the Summer Heat: Secrets to Healthy Skin and Gorgeous Hair.

You complain about the summer heat, but really, it’s your skin and hair which quietly bear the brunt of it. Which means that they are prone to a lot more damage during the summers than you are aware of. So, this summer, keep your skin and hair healthy and gorgeous with these easy tips.

Tip 1- Wash your face

Easy, right? Washing your face twice a day with a mild face wash (water, if face washes dry out your skin) helps get rid of any extra oil. If you’re outside, all you need is a face mist and tissue to keep your skin oil-free. These are great for your skin’s hygiene, and it also helps keep acne and other infections at bay.

Tip 2- Keep it fluid

2-3 litres a day should do the trick. Staying hydrated is probably the most important thing you can do for your skin, irrespective of the season, really. Dehydration puts unnecessary stress on the body, which in turn leads to acne breakouts, dark circles and even makes the skin look dry and wrinkly. So, keep yourself hydrated — and your skin hydrated, too.

Tip 3- Gear up

Protect yourself from the sun’s harmful rays and the skin conditions that come with it, by

– Wearing full-sleeved and loose clothes

– Using protective gear like sunglasses, umbrellas and caps

– Using sunscreen every time you go out

Tip 4- Love two shower?

Showering twice a day helps get rid of all the oil (thanks, sweat). This oiliness can let bacteria grow, which in turn leads to skin problems.

Tip 5- Switch to water-based makeup

Yes, you might need more touch-ups. But water-based makeup does not cause excess oiliness like oil or silicon-based products, which keeps you safe from skin trouble.

Tip 6- Leave hyper pigmentation behind

Your skin is more prone to hyper pigmentation in the summers, and so, it needs a little help to prevent it. All you need to do is use a Vitamin C based serum before you turn in for the day.

P.S. Make sure you use a serum recommended by your dermatologist.

Tip 7- Three times as gorgeous

Washing your hair three times a week, especially during the summer will help rid your scalp of the sweat and oiliness and the itching and heat boils that come with it.

Tip 8- Loose ties

Remembering to tie up and covering your hair loosely when you step out is a great way to protect it from the sun. We’re talking scarves, caps and hats. Remember to always tie your hair loosely to minimise sweating, which can lead to boils and other possible conditions.

So, with healthy skin and gorgeous tresses, make the most of your summer.
